At the time all Americans,rightfully so, were thoroughly disgusted with the lack of responsible government in Washington.  Federal Reserve Proposed Purchase of Government Debt is Illegal Money Laundering

The Federal Reserves proposed offer to buy up a portion of the National Debt is outright illegal and nothing more than money laundering. Furthermore, Obama administration is conspiring with an entity (the Federal Reserve) who it has no idea even has the money to complete such an action. After all, if we can't audit the reserve or can't look at their books or financial statements then how can government determine the Feds financial ability to fund this deal.
